strongware LLC (“we”) operates LifeCast Weather for iPhone. You can use forecasts, recommendations, Nearby, and radar without an account. This policy explains what LifeCast processes, why, and the choices you have.
Information we process
- Location: with your permission, LifeCast uses your device’s location, or a city you search for, to show forecasts, severe-weather alerts, radar, and nearby places. Coordinates are sent with each request to our weather service at strongware.dev and to the weather and map providers listed below. We do not build a location history. You can deny location and search for a city instead.
- Advertising: the free version shows banner ads served by Google AdMob. Google may collect your device’s advertising identifier (IDFA) if you allow tracking in Apple’s App Tracking Transparency prompt, along with device information, IP address and approximate location, and how you interact with ads, to serve, measure, and personalize ads and prevent fraud. If you do not allow tracking, the advertising identifier is not shared. In the EEA, UK, and Switzerland, a consent message lets you choose how your data is used for ads. LifeCast Plus subscribers do not see ads. Learn how Google uses data: policies.google.com/technologies/partner-sites.
- Sign in with Apple (optional): Apple provides an account identifier and, if you choose, your name and email address, which may be a private relay address. This information is stored on your device.
- Preferences and saved places: your interests, saved places, and settings are stored on your device.
- Purchases: LifeCast Plus is sold through Apple. LifeCast receives your subscription status from Apple; we never receive your payment details.
- Support: if you email us, we receive your message and email address.
How we use information
We use information to provide forecasts, alerts, radar, and suggestions, to show ads in the free version, to provide LifeCast Plus, to answer support requests, and to keep LifeCast secure and working. We do not sell personal information.
Service providers
- Google: forecast data, which our weather service requests on your behalf, and AdMob advertising and consent tools.
- Apple: Sign in with Apple, Apple Maps place search and directions, and App Store payments.
- Weather and radar data: Open-Meteo (forecasts and air quality), the U.S. National Weather Service (alerts), RainViewer (radar imagery), and NOAA forecast radar frames that we host on Amazon Web Services.
Each provider receives only what it needs to answer a request, such as coordinates or the map area you are viewing, and processes it under its own terms and privacy policy.
Retention
Information stored on your device stays there until you reset local data, delete your account in the app, or delete LifeCast. Our weather service keeps standard server logs for a limited time for security and troubleshooting. Support emails are kept as long as needed to help you.
Your choices
- Allow, limit, or deny location in iOS Settings, or search for a city instead.
- Allow or deny tracking in the App Tracking Transparency prompt, or later in Settings › Privacy & Security › Tracking.
- Reset local data, sign out, or delete your account in the You tab.
- Subscribe to LifeCast Plus to remove ads.
Children
LifeCast is not directed to children under 13, and we do not knowingly collect personal information from them.
International use
LifeCast is operated from the United States. Information may be processed where we and our providers operate.
Changes
We will post any changes here and update the effective date.
